Dead or Alive
Key Scripture: John 11:25-26
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Dead or Alive? Is it a statement or a question? Perhaps both. For thousands of years many have debated this question about God since the resurrection of Jesus. Books and songs have been written and movies have been created in attempt to provide the answer. But it is a question about God, or truly a statement for us to contemplate for our own life.
As we prepare ourselves to celebrate and remember the death and resurrection of Jesus, let us take a moment to reflect on the dichotomy of two of the most important aspects of humanity, life and death. What are we supposed to understand about the death and resurrection of Jesus? Do we live out our faith focused on a dead Jesus on the cross or a Jesus who rose from the dead? Could it be possible that we need both in our life?
