Key Verse: Eccl 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: 10If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. 11Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? 12Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
For over a year we have lived isolated and in fear of gathering with others. While grateful for the resources and outlets that have kept us connected, we must come to the realization that it was only for a season. Humanity has been starving for companionship and has been suffering the physical, emotional and spiritual consequences of isolation.
The truth is, God never designed humanity to be alone. From the creation of Adam and Eve, His community in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, to the ultimate unification of the family of believers in heaven, God knows things are better together. But most of all, He created the church to represent a community of people that unite with His kingdom agenda.
The greatest gift that God left the earth after Jesus’ ascension to heaven is the establishment of the church. Known as The Bride of Christ, she represents the uniting of a people under one faith, one God, one Spirit, and one purpose until His return. When she unites together to pray, to fast, and to give, nothing in this world can hinder her.
The season to unite and gather with others has arrived. It’s time to leave our desolate places and gather as the Body of Christ to declare that we are “Better Together!”
