Key Verse: Acts 1:3
After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
Jesus turned the religious system upside down and the disciples were unsure if Jesus would come back to life. He taught, served, healed, prophesied, and then died taking on the sin of the world. His followers wondered if there was more of Jesus to come but His persecutors were glad it was finally over. The hour of His death had come, and only a few believed His death was not the end.
During the 40 days after His resurrection several had witnessed the resurrection of Jesus. His time on earth before His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mk. 16:19) was full of hope, fear, doubt, joy, faith, and the kingdom of God. But now that He was alive, many pondered a question that we should ask ourselves as we celebrate Easter, what’s next?
