Key Verse: Genesis 3:9
9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
A new year brings new hopes and new opportunities. There is nothing like a fresh start and a clean canvas to build our lives. But where do we begin? In the beginning God had just created a new world and breathed life into a new man. He placed them in a new and most perfect setting, the Garden of Eden, with new flowers, trees, and animals. God placed everything they needed in their hands. They became lost in the newness of God’s creation that deception and shame overcame them, so they hid from God.
When God has given it all to you, and you’ve got nothing left, begin where you are. One of the first steps in determining where we are, where we stand with God, is to stop hiding from God. Let us look at where we are, and begin our next step with God’s direction because our current state, will determine our next step. We have to face ourselves if we want to face our future. We must see where we stand, use what we have, and do what we can and God will see us through. As we begin the year, let us take the time to reflect on God’s question to Adam, “Where are you?” (Gen. 3:9). There is no better place to begin a new year than to “Begin Where You Are.”
