Key Verse: Matthew 24:6
6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.
The recent catastrophic events that have taken place in our world over the last months has caused many of us to become alarmed. Panic, desperation, worry, and fear, to name a few, have settled in our hearts and minds as we’ve watched these horrific events unfold and now deal with the aftermath of destruction. Many are questioning, “is this the end”, “is Jesus coming soon,” “are these the signs?” Some panic and sell their homes, move into the mountains, stockpile food, and buy weapons. Shall we run for the hills as things get worse? Is this how we should respond? This month we will be focusing on how we are to biblically interpret “The Signs” and provide scriptural guidance on how we should respond. The Bible tells us to “keep watch” (Mat. 24:42) and that “no one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father” (Mat. 24:36). Peter tells us that during these times we “ought to live holy and godly lives as we look forward to the day of God” (2 Pt. 3:11-12) John urges us to do the work of God “while it is day” (Jn. 9:4). Let’s take a deep breath, gain understanding from the Scriptures, and respond the way God wants us to respond.
